Creative Dance for Children for ages 8 – 10 accepting registrations.  Session I begins Jan. 26th

Taught by Marianne Jarvi, this class, offered through the UIUC Department of Dance, focuses on creative expression, dance making and technique to build coordination, body awareness, and social skills.

Class for ages 8 -10 meets Saturday mornings from 10-11 a.m, in the dance studio on Nevada Street near Lincoln Avenue in Urbana.

7-week  options: 

Session I (Jan 26 – March 9)  

Session II ( March 30 - May 11) 

Cost: $77 

14-week option:

Jan 26 - May 11 ( 2-week break in March). Cost:  $154.

Kindermusik in Savoy

Hi, Alysa Stewart here! I will be teaching a music and movement class this fall in the Winfield Village Community Room. Classes will be held on Thursday mornings.

Thursdays, September 6 - December 20, Winfield Village Community Room

•  9 a.m. Our Time for children 1½ - 3 years with a caregiver. Register for $45
•  10 a.m. Village for infants newborn to 18 mo. with a caregiver. Register for $60

Sing, sway, laugh, play! Classes include story times, movement times and songs. 

Babies and toddlers love the instrument demonstrations and hands-on instrument time!

Class materials include home CDs, books and instruments that you keep.  

The registration fee (listed above) buys your materials and secures your place in class (limit 12).

Tuition fee: $140 -- Payment plans, sibling discounts, & barter/trades are available.

Creative Dance Class for Kids 18 mo-6 years

My dear friend and creative dance guru, Marianne Jarvi, would like to put on a Creative Dance for Kids series early this summer. If your child is between the ages of 18mo and 6 years, and if you are interested in an active, gender-neutral, creative movement and dance class for your child(ren), I happily recommend Marianne. 

Marianne has 4 kids of her own (3mo, 2y, 4y, 6y) and years of experience with creative dance in general (her BA degree at BYU) and creative dance for kids (graduate level work at U of I). The classes generally run 45 minutes, once a week, for 8 weeks. She usually charges about $100 per series, but welcomes barter/exchange services as well. 

If you're interested, email me the ages of your kids and we'll start forming age-based classes (typically 18-36 mo, 3-5 years, 6+ years) and setting up a schedule. The classes will most likely take place at my house, in my huge, carpeted, and currently vacant formal living room :)

Briella's bag sale

Briella's Boutique consignment store (by Walmart in Savoy) has some winter clearance racks (including one children's rack ) -- you can fill a plastic grocery bag for $10.  I was able to get 3 shirts and 4 pairs of pants in one bag.   They have several nice winter jackets as well if you need one for next year.

Just wanted to pass along a deal I spotted...

The Children's Place in Marketplace Mall has put their winter items on clearance. Warm hats w/ ear flaps are $2.99 and a bunch of very nice, warm baby coats are $4.99 each. I'd call them before going to make sure they have the size you need.
