I want to buy some water storage drums (like 55 gallon ones) and maybe other emergency preparedness items. Anyone know where I can buy the drums? Is there somewhere nearby, or do you have any online companies to recommend?

55-gallon drums are sometimes available through Brother Bales in the Urbana ward. He works at Kraft in town and can pull a few from the recycling line. He charges you for them at-cost (about $3-5 each). I've made 2 rain barrels from the Kraft barrels and they're awesome. Come over and see them sometime :) He can also hook you up with food grade plastic buckets for bulk storage.

I saw big blue water barrels at Rural King in Rantoul, and they likely have them in Champaign as I hear they have better selection there. I hope that's what you were looking for. Good luck!
