HOUSE FOR RENT

Dear sisters, Becky Good/ the bodamers sent this information. If you know of anyone looking for a really nice home in a good area let me know or contact her right away. If you would like to drive by the house to see it from the outside it is at 904 Fairoaks in Champaign, il. Just west of Duncan and Williams street it is in a clean nice area. I have a house available for rent, if anyone is interested or knows anyone interest please have them call me at: 217-369-0541 or e-mail me: good1452@comcast.net.7 bedroom, 3 full bath - completely remodeled and updated. Hardwood floors throughout, bathrooms are tiled, and jacuzzi tub in one bathroom. Fireplace and central air. The basement is finished with 2 bedrooms, 1 full bath, living room, and a kitchen and laundry room so it could be used as an "apartment" which would be ideal for roommates and splitting the rent. Landscaped yard with a beautiful coi pond, deck in the front and back, huge kids play structure and poured slab for a pool. 2 car attached garage, and some of the best neighbors in Champaign. It really is a one of a kind house and has a lot of extras and upgrades. The house will be availableJanuary 1st, but you can come and look at it anytime before then. Monthly rent is $1650. I am stressing trying to do this from Washington. Our original tennants signed a 5 year lease with the intent to buy by the end of the lease so I was not prepared for this! If anyone can help out by getting the word out there and helping us to find new tennants that would be awesome!! :) Thanks!!

Water Storage Drums

Hey guys,

I want to buy some water storage drums (like 55 gallon ones) and maybe other emergency preparedness items. Anyone know where I can buy the drums? Is there somewhere nearby, or do you have any online companies to recommend?

You can reply in the comments, so others can benefit from the information, or you can email me directly. Thanks.

Park Sleep Fly in Indianapolis

For anyone traveling soon and wanting to leave their car near the Indianapolis Airport, I recommend staying at Sleep Inn. I checked into park, sleep, fly rates from a bunch of hotels near the airport and most have changed their systems to allow you only 7 free days of parking and $5 per day after that. That still beats the airport parking lot prices, but it makes it pretty expensive.

Sleep Inn gives you up to 30 days of parking for free, and our rate for December 17th was $74.95, before taxes.

I had to call a lot of hotels to find this price, so I thought I'd let you in on it.

Free nursing covers

If you're an expecting or nursing mommy or have a baby shower coming up, check out this deal for free nursing covers---you pay shipping and handling, which comes out to $8.95. Go to uddercovers.com, click on "Shop now," and choose the cover you want. Then enter the promo code Thanks at check-out. It knocks the full $32 off the price. They've got some cute styles, though a couple of them are on back-order, so be sure to watch for that if you're in a hurry. The covers just look a lot easier to handle than keeping a blanket on your shoulder. You can order as many times as you want, in case you wanted to stock up for future baby showers. I'm not sure how long the offer lasts, but I suspect it's kind of an ongoing thing.

UP movie coupon

There is a $10 off coupon for Disney's new movie UP. This coupon is good for the BLU-RAY package which also contains a regular dvd! If the movie is bought at Walmart (I think they are selling it for about $20), then the movie comes out to about $10. I think that the coupon is only good until the 14th though. The website to get the coupon is www.disney.go.com/disneyvideos/animatedfilms/up/couponoffer/

luvs diapers

Family dollar has a "buy $25 worth of stuff, get $5 off" deal in their in-store ad through Wednesday of this week. That is $25 after tax. Their LUVS diapers jumbo packs are on sale for $7 each but they also have $1 off tear-off coupons which they will apply to each package you get, so they come out to $6 a package. If you buy four packages of diapers with the coupons and get your $5 off, that should come out to $4.75 a package.

Diaper Deal

I have two $3.00 off coupons for Huggies Pull-Ups if anyone wants them. They expire at the end of this year. However, if you are in need of pull-ups, Meijer has a deal this week, which ends tomorrow, that if you buy two boxes of pull-ups, you get a $5 gift card. I'm not sure how great of a deal this is, but if you use these two coupons to buy them, then you would be saving $11, and that seems like it would be a good deal. You can email me at tiffanykaye@gmail.com or call me.

Meijer toy clearance 50% + 20% off

Meijer on Prospect has a modest amount of toys on 50% clearance + 20% more off. There is not a lot left, but it is worth checking out if you are there. They did still have a fair amount of Magnext toys left (for about 2/3rd the amazon.com price), and there was a 50 piece train set for $12 that might be compatable with brio/thomas (I haven't had a chance to check it yet). They are on the south side of the store, just west of the Halloween costumes.

Swim mask goggles $4.30 for 2 pair at Sam's

Sam's club has Bodyglove brand youth swim goggles (mask style) on sale for $4.30 for 2 pair (reulalrly $14 or so). They are for older kids or youth--they barely fit my 7-year-old's narrow face, but fit a 5-year-old's wide face. As of this morning, they still had 20+ packages on the swimming pool stuff isle.

Museum Day, September 26

Free passes are available for museums around the country on Saturday, September 26th. Check out the website here to search for a museum:

http://microsite.smithsonianmag.com/museumday/venue.html

and then go here to print your pass, which is good for you and one other person:

http://microsite.smithsonianmag.com/museumday/admission.html

I assume both you and your spouse could print one, which would make the passes good for four people. All of the museums in our area that are participating are always free admission (Krannert Art Museum, Spurlock Museum, and Parkland Art Gallery), so it's not of much use here. But if you're planning a trip, it might be something to check out.

I thought I would share this event because I love the circus and I love a good bargain. The Carson and Barnes Circus will be in C-U July 31-August 2. A radio group is selling discounted tickets. You can get them from the station for $5 a ticket- instead of $18 at the gate. Last time they were here they sold out, so if you are interested I would suggest going soon. Here is the link to the radio station website for more info: http://extra991.com/Circus/4551036.

Also, I wasn't sure where the station even was. It is between Mattis and Duncan on Bradley. It is west of the MVD and Parkland college Bradley street entrance.

Country Life Natural Foods Order--no Aug order

In case you were interested in placing an order--I will be making an order tomorrow. I will not be making an August order. (I won't be in town the week of delivery.)

This summer I am going to make an order at Country Life Natural Foods (www.clnf.org). If the order is large enough they will deliver for free to my house. They offer a variety of foods (natural, organic, food storage), as well as buckets and gamma lids if you want them, at a good wholesale price. I ordered a variety of grains, nuts, and beans from them last year and was really impressed with the quality. The next order deadline is this Wednesday, June 10th--not much notice, I know. The delivery will be the next week. Please let me know by Tuesday evening if you are interested in ordering some products with my order.

Thanks,

I wanted to post this because James and I went to this sale, and got a really nice comfy plush couch nearly new for 20$. Need some advice

I've been contemplating a project, but have run into a dilemma. I have a headboard that I'm fixing up, but I want to cover up a hole someone made in it to put cord through, presumably for a lamp or something. I was thinking about several things I could use- it's a headboard with a bookshelf/cubby type setup. I looked at decorative tile, but they were around $7 a pop. I also looked at a textured, raised wallpaper, but that was $14 a roll and I only need a few squares. Does anyone else know of a cheap fix? I was thinking about grass cloth but I don't know where to buy that or how expensive it is. Fabric would be cheap but difficult to put on because it's not stiff and frays. I'm probably going to paint whatever I put on there. Any help would be much appreciated!

Rachel Luke
bleen03@gmail.com
Update: So I've added some pictures. There's an antique cabinet (another project that I'm planning to refinish once the weather cooperates) that I'm trying to tie together with the headboard that's kind of why I wanted a little decorative embellishment on the headboard. Nothing too matchy matchy, but I wanted the headboard to look a little more intricate. And I do plan to paint the entire headboard.

Yard Sale Treasure Map Website

This website, Yard Sale Treasure Map, takes all the garage sale listings from Craigslist in the area you specify and uses Google maps to map them all out for you. I can't wait to try it out. I wish there was a way to get the sales off the News Gazette, but it only does Craigslist. Anyway, I figure it's still a great way to find out which garage sales are near each other, so I don't have to map them myself.

the BEST hair cutting place in town!

I wanted to tell you of this amazing find for all those who are tired of the choppy wal-mart haircuts and need a professional!

There's a salon off of Cunningham Avenue that is called "The Color Exchange." I believe the owner is Stacy, and she hand picks only a select few of her graduating students to work with her, so they are ONLY the very best in the hair cutting business.

I went in only because my brother, mother in law and husband all raved about her god advice, wonderful time getting their hair cut, and had people work on their hair that clearly knew what they were doing. Stacy is a complete sweetheart and gave me some free shampoo samples to try for my horrible greasy hair problem. If one worked she said she would order some in for me. If none didn't work we would try more samples. How much nicer can you get? She catered to my needs to cut off a certain amount of hair, and told me what I could do better to maintain long hair. It's a wonderful place and I can vouch by me and all my family that they know what they're doing, and for a VERY reasonable price.

The coolest thing about their place is they have a very trendy consignment shop IN the salon, with tons of things like cool clothing, dvd's, gorgeous jewelery, shoes and home decor. I have bought as well as brought goodies there because I thought it was very cool. It's a nice place to look around while waiting as well as after your haircut.

The last thing they have is a massage table in a very zen-like room, and you can get massages as well there.

I just wanted to share this with you because I always find it difficult to get a professional hair stylist for a reasonable price. I've had many a stylist chop my hair off and had bad haricuts before Stacy. I hope you guys enjoy her as much as I did.

Here is the address:

1206 N Cunningham Ave
Urbana, IL 61802

It's by Domino's Pizza and El Toro's, kind of in a slightly hidden location (It's a treasure find!)

They charge 15$ a haircut (shampoo included), male or female, and they are open until 7pm and closed on Mondays.
